Peter Knego collection. These beautiful, enduring chairs came as a very pleasant surprise during my sad visit to Alang to witness the dismantling of the former WINDSOR CASTLE in September of 2005. I am not sure if these were specifically designed by Brit. design icons Jean Munro or Michael Inchbald (who fitted out RMS WINDSOR CASTLE), but they were certainly selected by one or the other for use in the ship's first class lounge. They are so solid and beautifully constructed (typical vintage British shipyard quality) with heavy wooden framework, stuffed with horse hair and the ubiquitous network of steel springs for inner support. I was able to personally inspect each one I purchased and am happy to report that most made it here relatively unscathed. On some, there is a nick or two, but for the most part the quality vinyl or leather covering (I am told by one source it is leather and another that it is the silk-lined vinyl) is in very good to excellent condition. Some TLC and a little "Armor All" always helps! There is one slightly smaller in in gray covering, too.
